Windsor Gallery has a 100-year history of service to Christchurch and Canterbury, which for current owners Philip and Tracey Wynands means a responsibility to uphold the highest levels of quality.

Dedicated to providing the best in framing and contemporary original artwork, the gallery won third and second place respectively in the last two national framing competitions run by industry heavyweight Larson-Juhl.

By matching artworks with the ideal moulding, mat board and fillet, they highlight a work’s finest aspects while providing a seamless fit with surrounding decor.

To do so is an art form itself, helped along by a vast selection of materials and the decades of experience which have made Windsor one of the best-known names in the business.

“We have a huge range of framing options, including UV glass to help prevent an artwork from fading, and regularly work with domestic and corporate clients,” Philip says.

For hanging artworks, Windsor Gallery uses metal cable on all frames due to its strength and total lack of stretching, which helps safeguards items in the event of an earthquake.

Art on show at the gallery is carefully chosen for its appeal to clientele, covering abstract, realism and impression as well as fine photography.

“We try to cater to every taste,” Philip says.

He notes that only leading artists and photographers from around New Zealand are exhibited at the gallery. These include Andris Apse, Mike Glover, Philip Beadle, Rhonda Campbell, Iva Treskon, Helm Ruifrok, David Woodings and Keith Morant.

Displays are constantly evolving and often highlighted in new exhibitions held at the light and modern gallery.
