Our Artists

Anne Baldock

Anne Baldock is a working artist based in Dunedin. Living on the beautiful Otago Peninsula provides the perfect environment to create and experiment with a variety of themes and materials. Her practice of moving between detailed humorous figurative works and impressionist or stylised seascapes void of any people, provides the mental space to resolve issues and recharge giving new energy to the next work.

The figurative works often feature room interiors with detailed domestic scenarios played out from an elevated viewpoint. These are driven by a fascination for how things appear when viewed from a height, like a fly sitting on the ceiling watching life unfold. The surrounding walls and perimeter furniture are hand-cut separately from natural plywood providing a unique effect. They are a humorous take on everyday situations that are relatable in most homes. Animals often feature in the works; their interaction with humans providing part of the narrative.

Her works are painted using Artist quality Winsor and Newton paints with a focus on producing one-of-a-kind bespoke works.
