Don McAra

Don is a well-known Canterbury artist who has had many solo and shared exhibitions in Christchurch and Dunedin over the years since 1988. Exhibitions have been with Fishers Fine Art, the Bryce Gallery, the Canterbury Society of Arts and The Centre of Contempory Art (CoCA), the Otago Art Society, and occasionally in galleries in Nelson and Wellington. Works are in many collections here and overseas. Two years ago he was recorded for “Put Some Colour in Your Life” on You Tube. He shows with Watercolour New Zealand, has belonged to life painting groups, and recently has been enjoying painting portraits in which area he has had three recent commissions. Larger works have been supplied to Otago University, Fisheries NZ, schools such as Darfield High, a Real Estate business in Queenstown, a Professor of Journalism, and others have shown in several galleries. Don held a highly successful exhibition of smaller watercolours in Diamond Harbour last summer. He has painted in the U.K., Italy, Ireland, Spain and France, but still loves our own landscapes and birdlife. Visits can be made to his studio, Ph 03 942 6086 for an appointment.
