Holly Murrell is a young artist living and working in Christchurch. She has recently completed her second year of studying painting at the Ilam School of Fine Arts, and intends to continue studying in 2023.
In 2019, her work made its debut as a part of the Windsor Gallery’s 2019 Canterbury High School Art Competition, in which she was awarded 3rd place.Since then, her work has been displayed in the 2020 and 2022 Creators’ Room Exhibitions, as well as featured in the youth category of the 2022 Zonta Female Art Awards.
As an emerging artist at the beginning of her career, her current practice is highly varied. Experimenting with oils, acrylics, and gouache, she explores a range of different genres such as surrealism, abstraction, and portraiture, as she tries to find her voice as an artist.
