Ruth Killoran

Ruth  is a full time painter and stone sculptor living in Christchurch.

Ruth was born and lived her formative years in Liverpool, UK, attending Liverpool  Art College for 2 years and then gaining a BA(Hons) degree in 3 dimensional design at Teesside University.

She worked as a commercial interior designer in and around the London area before moving to New Zealand in 2006.

Ruth is inspired to create from strong human emotions, working from her subconscious and losing herself in the process.  She loves the spontaneity of painting, letting the flow of paint dictate the forms that gradually emerge. Stone carving evolves in a similar manner, taking pleasure in creating flowing lines and shadows, hoping to create an emotional connection with the viewer.

Ruth’s work has been described as ‘fluidly energetic’ and she is gaining a reputation for producing intriguing, original work, winning awards here and overseas.
