Sun breaking through cloud in late evening light. Marlborough Sounds. My pilot was my friend Colin Bint and this was my last trip with him before he died of cancer.

So, the flight was memorable for personal reasons, but also I was able to take what I think is the best photograph I have taken of the Marlborough Sounds. Flying in cloudy conditions more often than not is unproductive, but I still do so in the hope that there may be a brief clearance which will produce a moody image. In this instance I was successful.

Location. In the foreground is Endeavour Inlet, Centre Kenepuru Sound, Back centre Pelorus Sound, back left Queen Charlotte Sound.

Custom made 6x9cm. Camera. Schneider Apo-Symmar 150mm. Lens. Kodak 120, E100 G Transparency Film.

I print my images on the latest generation Epson Sure Color P7000 Printer. This image is printed on what I believe to be one of the highest quality archival materials available, 310 gms. Canson Infinity Rag Photographique paper. The new Epson Ultrachrome HDX pigment inks show a significant improvement over older generation inks. The framing material used is archival quality and the glass is Museum quality.

As a protective coating and additional UV protection, I spray the print with two coats of Art Premier Print Shield.
